Beginning September 2012, new health warnings will appear on all cigarette packages and advertising.   These prominent warnings will be displayed on the top 50 percent of both the front and rear panels of each cigarette package and in the upper portion of each cigarette advertisement, occupying at least 20 percent of the area of the advertisement.   This change by the FDA will be a more aggressive approach to communicating the dangers of smoking.

Smoking is the leading cause of premature death in the United States and is responsible for nearly one million deaths a year.  It causes lung disease, cancer, strokes, heart disease and can kill you.  Though well aware of these hazards, smokers are powerless to the desire to light up because smoking is an addiction.

Addiction is an obsessive, compulsive reaction to a stimulus.  Everyone has an energetic life force that is contained in every cell of our body. This energy determines the color of our eyes, the shape of our bodies, our mental, emotional and physical health; it also determines the way we think and react to life. To truly overcome addiction, this inner obsessive compulsive energy must be released from the body.

Many quit smoking “cold turkey” or use nicotine replacement products like skin patches and chewing gum to overcome the urge to smoke.  But these methods only attempt to reprogram that energy.  Unless released, the addictive energy remains suspended in the cells in the body and addiction repeats itself in different forms.  That’s why reformed smokers often find themselves overeating and gaining weight after they quit smoking.

Classical Homeopathy is a holistic treatment that releases toxic energies which disturb thoughts, emotions and body functions.  It uses the energy patterns of animals, plants and minerals to heal  similar diseased energy patterns.  For example, someone suffering with insomnia or hyperactivity may experience relief from the homeopathic remedy Coffea, derived from coffee beans.  Coffee in crude form is a drug-like stimulant, but Coffea as a healing agent can relax an over-stimulated person and help one kick the coffee habit.

Homeopathic remedies are prepared by diluting and energizing substances (potentization) in purified water.  As a substance is continuously diluted and energized, its healing properties are extracted and suspended in the purified water.  The higher the potency, the more dynamic it becomes which means substances that are poisonous or addictive in crude form are safe and effective as homeopathic remedies*.

There are many homeopathic remedies that treat smoking habits and other addictions.  For example, Nux vomica is commonly known as the “hangover” remedy.  It’s derived from a plant that contains strychnine, a neurotransmitter that causes obsessive compulsive behaviors.  Though ingesting or inhaling this plant may cause addictive behaviors, as a homeopathic remedy it is often a very effective first step in treating withdrawal symptoms from addiction including tobacco addiction.

Lobelia is another remedy often recommended for treating smoking addictions.  It’s  from the Indian tobacco plant.  The nicotine in tobacco increases levels of dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for euphoria and relaxation.  In homeopathic form, tobacco remedies can be effective in releasing addictive energies caused by nicotine.

Carbo vegetabilis is derived from the charcoal and ash of birch wood which is similar to the ash produced by smoking cigarettes.   Smoking relaxes the mind and enhances mental capacity but when over used (i.e. abused) it slows down many body functions.  In remedy form, Carbo-v can revitalize a state of inertia while maintaining a sense of calm and focus.  It also has an affinity to heart disease, respiratory diseases and digestive disorders, and can be very effective in healing these important body functions.

Staphasagria is a remedy often used to treat suppressed emotions, and addiction is directly link to one’s emotional state.  The typical profile of a person benefiting from this remedy is someone who on the outside appears proud and dignified but on the inside suffers from a history of abuse, humiliation and/or neglect.

These are just a very small sampling of the many homeopathic remedies available to help one kick the habit.  The key to successful healing with homeopathy is selecting the most similar remedy at the lowest potency which maximizes healing, and then taking that remedy at appropriate times.  Though homeopathic remedies can be purchased over-the-counter, it is highly recommended to seek the assistance of a trained homeopath when deciding upon homeopathy to treat addiction or chronic mental, emotional or physical illness.

Homeopathy is a deep acting treatment for kicking habits such as smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee.  For more serious addictions, this treatment is most effective when combined with a comprehensive recovery program such as Alcoholic Anonymous, Al-Anon, Narcotics Anonymous or other 12 Step fellowships.

*Important:  When self prescribing, it is recommended (1) to use low potencies (up to 30C), (2) to limit the treatment to one remedy at a time, and(3) not to repeat the remedy too often.  Over use or improper administration of homeopathic remedies may have a temporary negative or reverse affect on the condition.  In such cases, simply stop the treatment and contact a professional homeopath for continued treatment.

Seventy-five percent of the human body is made up of fluids. Positive energies held in those fluids support a healthy body and soul, while toxic energies create disease and suffering.  At conception, fluids carrying the energy print of the father pass to the mother, who transmits the combined energy print of both parents to the child.   A lifetime of thoughts, emotions, and actions captured in these fluids pass through the umbilical cord, leaving an everlasting imprint on the physical and spiritual development of the unborn child.  Long after birth, and after a child is weaned from his mother’s breast, the belly button is a physical reminder that parents are always spiritually connected to their children.

In “The Hidden Messages in Water,” Dr. Masaru Emoto reports a breathtaking discovery: Ice crystals from a clear spring, or water exposed to loving words display brilliant, complex and colorful snowflake patterns, whereas ice crystals from polluted sources or water exposed to negative thoughts form incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors.  His research is witness to the age-old belief that water, especially water infused with positive or holy words, affects our spiritual well-being.  It is now understood that water captures and holds the memory of energies that affect our physical, emotional and mental health.

Classical Homeopathy is a holistic treatment that releases toxic energies that disturb thoughts, emotions and body functions.  It uses the energy patterns of animals, plants and minerals to heal those with similar energy patterns.  For example, someone suffering with insomnia or hyperactivity may experience relief from the remedy Coffea, derived from coffee beans.  Coffee as we know is a stimulant.  But in remedy form, Coffea has healing properties that relax an over-stimulated person. Similarly, when one suffers from allergies or has a cold, they may find that the remedy derived from onion will relieve their symptoms, while the onion itself causes similar symptoms of runny nose, eyes, etc in a healthy person.

Homeopathic remedies are prepared by diluting and energizing substances (potentization), and combining them with purified waters similar to the clear spring waters of a Jewish ritual bath, or mikvah. The remedy holds within it the energy of a substance, and when coupled with the positive energy found in the purified water, is administered to the person as a healing agent.   Lower potencies typically heal physical ailments, while higher potencies are more dynamic and address mental, emotional and physical disturbances.   The homeopathic treatment offers quick relief from temporary illness like the common cold, the flu, viral infections, and mild headaches, while gradually healing chronic ailments such as asthma, anxiety, addictions, depression, eating disorders, body pain, hormonal imbalance, insomnia, migraine headaches, and PMS.

A young mother sought homeopathic care for her three month old baby.  The baby had been sleeping through most of the night until a couple weeks earlier, when he began waking up every two hours and crying when not held or sleeping.  The new mother was exhausted and had tried everything to calm her baby.  When asked if anything was bothering her, this young mother began crying, releasing pent-up anxiety about returning to work and conflicts with her husband and his family.

It was about the same time, two weeks prior, that her husband’s parents complained about not spending enough time with their new grandchild.  The tension in the home began to build as his frustration with his parents passed along to the mother who was anxious about returning to work.   All this negative energy upset the baby’s spiritual balance and disrupted his sleep.

One single dose of the homeopathic remedy Sepia, taken by the nursing mother, neutralized the energy that made her anxious and disrupted the child’s sleep.  Within two days mother and child were considerably more relaxed – everyone slept four hours the first night and six hours the second.

When administered by a trained professional, Homeopathy has the power to gently restore inner health, harmony and happiness that fosters a loving and nurturing home environment.  For after all, children are healthier and happier when their parents are healthy and happy themselves.

Every person fulfills their purpose when the time is right.

Since human timetables quite often do not correspond with universal timetables, it’s common for people to feel that life is progressing too slowly or too quickly. We draft carefully composed plans only to find that they fall into place when we least expect. Or, conversely, we are thrust into roles we believe we are not prepared for and wonder how we will survive the demands imposed upon us by unfamiliar circumstances. When delays in our progress kindle pangs of disappointment within us or the pace of life seems overwhelming, peace can be found in the simple fact that we are exactly where we need to be at this moment.

Every person fulfills their purpose when the time is right. If you have fast-tracked to success, you may become deeply frustrated if you discover you can no longer satisfy your desires as quickly as you might like. Yet the delays that disappoint you may be laying the foundation for future accomplishments that you have not yet conceived. Or the universe may have plans for you that differ from the worldly aspirations you have pursued up until this point. What you deem a postponement of progress may actually represent an auspicious opportunity to prepare for what is yet to come. If, however, you feel as though the universe is pushing you forward at too fast a clip, you may be unwittingly resisting your destiny. Your unease regarding the speed of your progress could be a sign that you need to cultivate awareness within yourself and learn to move with the flow of fate rather than against it. The universe puts nothing in your path that you are incapable of handling, so you can res! t assured that you are ready to grow into your new situation.

You may feel compelled to judge your personal success using your age, your professional position, your level of education, or the accomplishments of your peers as a yardstick. Yet we all enjoy the major milestones in our lives at the appropriate time—some realize their dreams as youngsters while others flourish only in old age. If you take pride in your many accomplishments and make the most of every circumstance in which you find yourself, your time will come.

All homeopathic remedies are FDA regulated and are considered safe and effective when taken under the supervision of a professional homeopath practitioner. Keep in mind when self-prescribing that two key principles of homeopathy is “like heals like” and the “minimum dose” … this means that taking the least amount of a remedy that is most similar to the symptoms will usually produce the greatest results.

If you suffer from a sever acute illness or chronic diseases, don’t try to self prescribe.  Contact a professional homeopath practitioner for proper treatment.

Drinking 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water has been the rule of of thumb in order to maintain good health.  The truth is this amount varies for each individual as we need to consume enough water to replace the amount lost through perspiration, excretion and other bodily functions.

People living in hot climates need more water than those living in colder climates.  Those who are physically active need more water than those whose who are more sedentary.  Individuals who have a hot body temperature or fever need more water than someone whose body temperature is normal or cold.

Drinking water is definitely important to maintain good health, however drinking too much water may cause damage to the kidney and liver for those who can’t properly eliminate the fluids.  And since water is also replenished in the foods we eat and the non-alcoholic beverages we drink, for some drinking 8-10 glasses a day is too much.

So the rule has been modified:  listen to your body and practice moderation when drinking water.  Be sure to drink enough to properly hydrate your body but not too much to make you sick.

Interesting facts & information about water

  • Half of the earth is water and three quarters of the human body is water.
  • Drinking water speeds up your metabolism and optimizes digestion – even mild dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3%.
  • Insufficient water is major reason for daytime fatigue and headaches.
  • Research shows that 8-10 glasses of water could significantly reduce back and joint pain in about 80% of sufferers.
  • A mere 2% drop in the water in our body will cause fuzzy short term memory, trouble with basic math, difficulty focusing on a computer screen or printed materials.
  • Drinking at least 5 glasses of water daily can reduce the risk of colon cancer by 45%, bladder cancer by 50% and breast cancer by 79%.
  • Water has been proven to hold the memory of positive and negative energies.  So drinking water can improve one’s emotional and physical well being by washing away stored negative energies.
  • Just as bathing washes away toxins on the outside of the body, drinking enough water washes away toxins on the inside of the body.

Water is a key element in Homeopathy

In his book entitled “The Hidden Messages in Water”, Dr. Masaru Emoto explains that water crystals found in ice have various shapes and colors depending on the environment in which is was taken.  For example, water from clear springs or that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns, whereas water from polluted sources or exposed to negative thoughts formed incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors.  The conclusion of Dr. Emoto’s research is that water captures and holds the memory of all energies.

Homeopathy uses the energy patterns of animals, plants and minerals that are stored in water to heal those with similar energy patterns.

The basic principle of Classical Homeopathy is that disease energy patterns held in a person’s body can be neutralized or healed by a similar energy pattern found in a substance in creation.  For example:  when you cut open an onion, you see that the energy pattern of the onion creates the symptoms of watery eyes, runny nose, burning skin and a spacey, dull mind.   Therefore, the energy pattern of the onion can heal someone who is suffering from the common cold or allergies.

Homeopathic remedies are prepared by a diluting 1 part of a substance into 9 or 99 parts of a water & alcohol solution.  The dilution is then energized by banging the container on a hard surface for a series of repetitions.  As a substance is continuously diluted and energized, it’s energy patterns are released into the water/alcohol solution to become a homeopathic remedy.  Homeopathic remedies are then administered to individuals with similar disease pattern.

Like no two people are alike and no two substances in creation are alike, the homeopathic treatment is individualized.  Homeopathy is both an art and a science that uses water and energy to gently, rapidly and permanently heal the sick.

This article begins with the human body – the most dynamic Creation known to man. Within every creature or substance in the universe is an energy that gives meaning and purpose to it having been created.  This energy defines a person’s character and personality, as no two people are ever exactly alike.  And when this energy leaves the human body, the tissues and organs cease to function and eventually disintegrate.  We call this energy the Life Force.  One aspect of the Life Force often overlooked is its ability to disturb normal body functions after becoming susceptible to and overcome by disease.

Mankind is different from animals in that the human body stands erect at the vertical plane while animals typically function on the horizontal plane. At the top of the human body is the brain which represents intellect and reasoning. In the center of the body is the heart which represents emotion and feeling. And in the lower half of the body is the reproductive system which represents instinctive body functions. In animals, the brain, heart and reproductive organs are all on the same level; where as in Man, these areas have an obvious hierarchy indicating that the mind and emotions are the defining features of the human Life Force.

The human brain is also divided into three major parts which control these aspects of the human body. The upper brain develops and manages intellect and reasoning, the middle brain defines emotion and interpersonal relationships while the lower brain controls natural body functions. These concepts are commonly known as the Id (body/instincts), the Ego (heart/emotions) and the Super-ego (brain/mind).

In the Biblical story of Genesis, there are theologians that interpret Adam, Eve, and the Snake as metaphorically representing these three intra-psychic components of the mind. Eve (the emotions) was the focal point of the Tug of War between Adam (the intellect) who reasoned against eating the forbidden fruit and the Snake (the instinctive body function) that ultimately seduced her. Within each and every one us resides this hidden Tug of War between our mental reasoning and our physical desires. It’s when our emotions are driven by our physical desires, that we lose our mind and reasoning which eventually creates an environment for mental, emotional and/or physical illness.

In the world of alternative healing and Homeopathy in particular, “holistic” (wholeness) health is when a healthy intellect and reasoning molds our emotions so the body can function in a state of wholeness. Once the disturbed human Life Force is healthy or is in alignment with its meaning and purpose, the body has the natural ability to heal itself.

This concept applies to all disease, but the most obvious example is addiction. Emotions are driven by an impulsive desire to indulge in the addictive behavior leaving intellectual reasoning ineffective. Every cigarette smoker clearly knows that smoking may lead to lung cancer and other fatal illnesses – it’s written on every box of cigarettes. Nevertheless, the addict pays no attention to the bold warning and is willfully seduced by his physical and/or emotional impulse to smoke, drink, eat, work, shop, etc.

Classical Homeopathy is a holistic healing modality that works by “resetting” the Life Force. The trained Homeopath matches an individual’s unique mental, emotional and physical symptoms to a homeopathic remedy that has proven to heal similar symptoms. Remedies are highly diluted, energized derivatives of plants, minerals, animals and other substances. They are safe and effective when taken in conjunction with a treatment program recommended by a trained homeopath.

It is interesting to note that the Homeopathic healing process follows the hierarchy of the human body – mental symptoms heal first, followed by emotional symptoms and then physical ones. The healing process is so natural and gentle that in the beginning of treatment one may not be consciously aware of any improvement. Throughout the course of treatment, the Homeopath monitors the subtle yet effective changes in a person’s health, pointing them out to the individual along their path to health.

The slogan in a brochure at a local day spa read “when we look good we feel good.”   Meaning, when we take care of our body and how we look, then we feel better inside.   Is that really true or is there more lying deep below the skin?  This article challenges this contemporary mindset and promotes the premise that genuine health and healing is from the inside out.

Western culture conditions us to believe that when our physical body looks good, we feel good – which is true to some extent.  A new hair style, makeup, beautiful clothes and exercise certainly makes us feel better.  But does a face lift, tummy tuck or beautiful clothes change what lingers deep inside?

Consider these two very public women.  One aged gracefully and the other didn’t despite cosmetic surgeries. Knowing their public stories, it’s understandable that our inner lives are reflected in how we look on the outside.

“You Look Good When You Feel Good” means you feel so good at the depth of your soul that you radiate a pure, wholesome, genuine, healthy look on the outside.

Success is often fueled by transforming a negative experience into something productive.  Unfortunately for many, this inner drive is a negative energy not completely transformed as  that same energy eventually rises to the surface in the form of diseases.  For example, it’s common to hear about a workaholic who collapsed from stress or a care giver who became sick with a life threatening disease.

Our vital force (or sometimes referred to as our life force) is the ultimate source of health and illness as it gives life to our body.  Remove the vital force and our body dies. Likewise, this life force when healthy radiates health and happiness, while an unhealthy life force expresses itself as a mental illness, depression or a physical disease.

As a holistic practice, Homeopathy focuses on the mind, the emotions and the physical body.   The underlying causes of unhealthy thoughts and emotions are typically suppressed deep into our subconscious leaving us unaware of it’s affect on our lives.   And though suppression may help many survive in the short term, it creates an obstacle to genuine health in the long term.  The body reacts to this stored negative energy by slowly developing a chronic illness that eventually disable normal body functions.

Conventional medicine offers the world of health the gift of diagnosing and managing disease, but it falls short of healing.  Most holistic practices approach healing by balancing energies within the body – i.e. ying and yang – but it doesn’t necessarily remove the underlying causes.   Homeopathy takes a different and unique approach to healing.  Like a reset button, appropriately applied homeopathic remedies neutralize that negative, diseased energy which then allows the body, mind and emotions to heal in a gentle, natural and deep acting process as Nature intended.

To me a healthy person may be attractive and physically fit, but more importantly a healthy person radiates a special energy from inside – it’s called Grace.   All of us have moments of misery and moments of grace.   To thrive in a challenging world is to radiate an inner grace more often than not and to nurture our inner strength and stamina to withstand the difficulties of life.

Yes, cosmetics and exercise contribute to our sense of well being, but it doesn’t begin nor end there.   Homeopathy is a vital component to maintaining true health and happiness that radiates from within, and I invite you to learn more about this amazing healing practice.

Thank you
